Hey everyone! This week I am FINALLY sharing my first skincare/beauty post. It feels like it has been forever since I originally talked about how I wanted to start sharing more about my beauty and skincare routines. A little over three months ago I decided to transition to using more all natural skin care products. I have almost always strived to use cruelty-free products but over the past year, I have learned there is so much more that goes into finding all natural skin care products.
Why Natural Skin Care?
To start, did you know that our skin absorbs more than 60% of what we put on it? That means that within 30 seconds much of the chemicals and ingredients in our products are already in our bloodstream. (Source: Herb & Hedgegrower) Ultimately this information is what led me to take my skin care and beauty products more seriously.
I want to preference this with: we are all unique. We all have our own skin and sensitivities. What works for one of us might not work for the other. But that doesn’t mean we can’t share the amazing and effective everyday products we use.
My Journey to All Natural Beauty Products
As I mentioned it has been months since I started to pursue finding more all natural products. I mainly focus on finding products that are cruelty-free, paraben-free, and sulfate-free. It is a HUGE bonus if it is also organic, vegan, and sustainable!
I have spent months trying out new products that YOU all recommended to me. I really wanted to get a good feel for what I am looking for in my products and I (obviously) want to make sure THEY WORK. I will NEVER endorse or support a product before I know it works and it is a quality I’m happy with.
I don’t change my skin routine very frequently so you won’t see me sharing weekly beauty products posts or constantly recommending new products. My skin thrives on consistency and all natural products. The second I switched to less-hard products and more natural ingredients I started seeing a major difference.
Here is what I have been LOVING:
SheaMoisture Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Overnight Face Oil
This had been my life saver (or should I say skin saver) over the past month. Throughout all of my travels, change in climate, and winter weather this has kept my skin hydrated and happy. I was definitely hesitant to try a face oil because the word “oil” makes me think “breakout.” But this overnight face oil by SheaMoisture is AH-MAZING. I simply put a little drop on my figures and rub into my face right after I wash my face and it helps lock in hydration. Plus I wake up with my skin looking refreshed.
SheaMoisture 100% Coconut Oil
This is better than any hydrating lotion I’ve ever tried! I throw a little on my legs and other dry areas right after I shower to lock in the moisture. I have been pleasantly surprised that it doesn’t leave my skin greasy or oily. But keep in mind a little goes a VERY long way with this product! Bonus, massage this into the ends of your hair for a quick 10-20 minute hair mask before you shower!
Actually, I am OBSESSED with the entire line of SheaMoisture Coconut Oil for both skin and hair care! A month ago I received a bunch of free samples from Influenster, and like I mentioned was a little skeptical but after weeks I can officially say they are worth the try!
Burt’s Bees Brightening Daily Facial Cleanser
I have been using this facial cleanser for over four months now I have been obsessed with it since the day I started using it. It is great for all skin types and makes my skin feel nourished and clean after one use. I am not lying when I say, within one week I had people complimenting me on my complexion! Highly recommend.
Ogee Daily Facial Cleansing Cloths
I received these from Ogee, along with a handful of other skin care products, and they have become another one of my favorites. I use these cleansing clothes at the end of every day to remove my makeup. The part is when I am feeling extra lazy they do a good job of cleansing and moisturizing my face before bed.
