The dress above was originally $170, I bought it for $28.

But, HOW?

Nordstrom Rack, on clearance, plus 40% off.

Who else gets a certain thrill when the deal seems too good to be true? Or when you start thinking “ok, check out and run before they realize they made a pricing mistake.” ME! Over the years I have figured exactly how to find the best deals on clothes. I want to share a few tips and tricks I have learned. Scroll down.

Tip and Tricks on finding the best deals

1.ย Plan your visit before you shop

Don’t mindlessly go into stores hoping to get a deal. Know when and where the sales are to maximize your discount. Stick to what is on sale. Remember, the whole point of sales is to get you into the store but convince you to buy full priced items. Focus on the sale. If something full price catches your eye sometimes the waiting game can be worth the gamble. Simply wait to see if it makes it to the clearance rack, or maybe the store is having another sale soon. The worst feeling in the world is buying something at sticker price only to see it on sale a few weeks later.

2. Google it before you Buy it

I cannot tell you how many times I have been in a store, about to buy something when I go to google it and find another retailer has it at a lower price! When this happens, (tip #6)ย ask the store if they price match, if they don’t buy the item elsewhere. You never know who could be having a better sale that day! For example, one day I thought I was getting a great price on Ray-bans (20% off, woo) until I googled the same pair and found another store was offering the Ray-bans at a lower original price AND 30%, I asked the store to price match, they did and I walked out of the store paying $105 instead of $175. It never hurts to ask

3. Take advantage of “Sales on Sales”

Some of my favorite stores like, Nordstrom Rack, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21 and ASOS often have sales on their already marked down clearance sections. These types of sales can often be a little time consuming because you have to look through a bunch of items to find the real steals. This type of sale is how I managed to score this Free People $170 dress for $28.

4. Use Coupon codes

When shopping online alway, always look for coupon codes before checking out. I use Honey which is an awesome application you can add to your Chrome browser that automatically enters dozens of coupon codes for you and chooses the best one. Not coupon codes? You can get cash back! Rack up points and you get Amazon gift cards! You already online shop, why not make it worth you wild. P.S. this is not sponsored, I just seriously love Honey.

5. Sign Up for newsletters

I know getting bombarded with newsletters and spam can get obnoxious but subscribe to some of your favorite online retailers to ensure you never miss a sale. If you are getting annoyed of all the e-mails simply unsubscribe, or (even better) some companies will let you select what type of e-mail you want to receive. That way you can select just the promotional e-mails.

I hope that helps you score the best deals on clothes. Happy Hunting!
