It’s never too early to start caring about your skin.

Skincare has been at the forefront of my priorities for some time now. I don’t know if it has something to do with hitting 25 and being a quarter of a century old but keeping my skin clear and youthful has become one of my top priorities when it comes to my beauty routine.

I have always lived by the idea that “it’s never too early to start caring about your skin.” After all, if there is anything, I have learned in my 20s it that prevention is easier then treatment. Especially when it comes to anti-aging. I truly being that incorporating an anti-aging product or two into your daily skincare routine as a 20-something will really pay off in the long
run.

This past year I spent a lot of time learning about popular anti-aging products and ingredients. It’s no secret that retinol is one of the top recommended ingredients by both dermatologists and beauty gurus alike.

I have tried my fair share of retinol products and I have always been impressed with the results. What I wasn’t impressed with however, was the price tag and irritated skin. My skin is sensitive, so some products contained too much retinol and not enough moisturizer. Olay’s Retinol24 collection has completely changed the game on that one when the released their new Retinol24 Moisturizer, Serum and Eye cream.

If you’re new here you might not know but, I am a huge fan of Olay’s skincare products! I even traveled the world with their moisturizer this summer and you can read all about my experience here. I knew I instantly had to give their new Retinol24 products and try!

Tried and True

I have been using Retinol24 for almost 4 weeks now and I am obsessed! Not only have I seen results in my fine lines but, in the overall moisture and texture of my skin too. At first, I started out by using all three of the products but, I instantly became obsessed with the moisturizer specifically!

The moisturizer is my personal favorite because of how moisturizing the formula is. I even cover my neck and chest at night! However, if you are looking for something that is lighter and absorbs into the skin quicker, I would suggest giving the serum a try!

Why Retinol?

Retinol, aka vitamin A, is an ingredient that has proven to help refine skin and reduce signs of aging. It focuses on minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation.

What benefits will I see?

Get ready for retinol to change your life. With a blend of B3 + retinoid complex you can expect 24-hour hydration, brighter skin, smoother fine lines, and improved skin tone.

Incorporating into your skincare routine

It is important to research any retinol product before you purchase to know exactly how and when it should be incorporated into your skincare routine. However, I know Olay’s Retinol24 collection was specifically formulated to add seamlessly into your skincare routine. I would recommend using each product as follows (note: it is not recommended to use all three at once):

  • Moisturizer – replace your daily moisturizer
  • Eye cream – apply after moisturizer
  • Serum – apply after cleansing, but before moisturizing

Take it slow

The reason retinol is so popular is because it WORKS! Like any new skincare product, take it slow when you are introducing retinol to your skincare routine. Follow the rule of thumb by applying the Retinol24 Moisturizer on two nights, then off two nights. After a few weeks you’ll start seeing results and be ready to use on your skin however often you feel necessary.

Do I need a prescription?

Yes, you can go to your dermatologist to get a prescription retinoid, but don’t. Retinol products have been available over the counter for years now and many argue that they are just as effective without breaking the bank. It’s also important to point out that amount of retinol in a product doesn’t matter as much as the way it’s formulated with other ingredients.  In addition, over-the-counter retinol products, like Olay’s Retinol24 Moisturizer, are formulated to be gentler on your skin.

Wear your SPF

Retinol can temporarily increase your skin sensitivity so, it is important to be extra rigorist about applying your SPF the following morning. Which, let’s be honest, is another thing we should all be doing anyway to prevent early skin aging.

Are there side effects?

Retinol doesn’t have to irritate your skin if used right. Since everyone’s skin is different, I can only speak from my personal experience. While, I have experience pealing and irritation with other over the counter retinol products – I have yet to experience anything but positive results from the Retinol24 Moisturizer. I truly think it is because it keeps my skin hydrated and is formulated to be gentler on the skin.

But, you’re on a budget…

Girl, I FEEL you on this one. Beauty and skincare can really take a toll on your wallet if you’re not careful. The Olay Retinol24 Moisturizer might now be the cheapest thing in my nightly skincare routine but, as far as retinol goes Olay really focused on keeping the price affordable without reducing the quality of their product or it’s ingredients.
